Antique Racks, LTD originated on April 1, 2005 after the discovery and acquisition of the last remaining inventory of New England Factory Racks had been discovered in a warehouse, acquired and located to Bay City, Michigan.

The owner, Charles Moulds, a bank executive by vocation and woodworker by avocation, made a career change to work on this exciting project with his 16 year old son.  A site in downtown Bay City was located and transformed into a restoration and refinishing facility capable of repairing, restoring and refinishing these beautiful racks that represent a unique part of American History.

We found only two maker marks identifying the origin of the factory racks as made locations in Maine.  They were assembled by another individual who purchased most of the racks at auction in the 1970's when the shoe and textile industries were going overseas for economic reasons.  They were then stored for the past 30 years in a single warehouse location.

Antique Racks, LTD has restored over 200 of these beautiful and functional factory racks in the past three months with tremendous response from the community and outlets that we have developed in Michigan and Ohio.

The size of many of the racks exceeds standard shipping size and weights and can only be purchased at the Bay City location and other direct outlets where we deliver.  The smaller rack sizes offered on our web site conform to standard shipping sizes and make transportation very affordable.

Based upon the positive reactions of customers and dealers, our original plan for a 6-8 year endeavor has been narrowed to 4-5 years.

Every rack is personally restored by either my son or myself with my final inspection prior to sale or shipping.  To date, we have enjoyed 100% satisfaction with the quality, appearance and value offered in our sales.
